What is Hyperion?

Hyperion is a high resolution hyperspectral sensor that acquires spectral data across 220 spectral bands (from 0.4 to 2.5 µm) with a 30 meter spatial resolution. The instrument images a 7.7 km by 42 km (optional 185km length) land area per image and provides detailed spectral mapping across all 220 channels with high radiometric accuracy. Its comprehensive spectral resolution permits detailed spectral identifications and land cover classifications to be performed.

Benefits

Hyperspectral imaging has a wide range of applications in mining, geology, forestry, agriculture, and environmental management. Hyperion’s comprehensive spectral resolution facilitates detailed classification of land assets, increases the scope for the identification of mineral groups in mineral exploration, provides better crop yield predictions and improves the environmental monitoring of mine sites.
